Away From The Noise

The kids are fighting…

The rent is due…

The dishes need washed…

The report at work is due today…

The laundry is piled high…

The Dr’s report is not good…

The phone won’t stop ringing…

Your spouse needs you…

Your kids need you…

Your employer needs you…

You can’t focus.  You are forgetting everything.  You have no idea where to begin.  Everything seems to be spiraling out of control and all you want to do is scream STOP! STOP. THE. MADNESS!

This is exactly where the enemy wants to keep us!  So confused; so tired; so distracted; so worn out; so BUSY… that we don’t have the time to pull away from the noise and step into the secret place with our Father!  Why?  Because he knows that when we get away from the noise and alone with God, we find the answer to EVERY single thing we may face in this world. It’s where we find strength and peace and joy and VICTORY!  It’s the last thing the devil wants for us and it’s the very first thing that God wants for us!

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”  Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.  He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.  You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.  A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall now come near you.  Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.  Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.  In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.  You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.  Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”  -Psalm 91

Who does God say He gives all of that to?

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High!”

Away from the noise, in the secret place and alone with God. There, and there alone, is where our answers to life are!  There is NOTHING we can do that will give us the joy, peace, fullness or satisfaction that we get when we are in GOd’s presence.

The world can’t satisfy us…

Things can’t satisfy us…

Our spouse can’t satisfy us…

Our kids can’t satisfy us…

The new job.  The vacations.  The new car.  The new house.  The new relationship…. NOTHING… yet we find ourselves looking to those things so often in our lives.

Nothing else can satisfy us… our satisfaction is in Him and Him alone!

If we need joy… “…In Your presence is fullness of joy…”  Psalm 16:11

If we need peace… “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  John 14:27

If we need strength… “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31

If we need rest… “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

If we need freedom… “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”  2 Corinthians 3:17

If we need healing… “For I am the Lord Who heals you.”  Exodus 15:26

If we need victory…”But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  1 Corinthians 15:57

Everything we need is found in Him!  The One who is our ultimate example in life, Jesus, pulled Himself away from the noise and alone with God on multiple occasions. Here are just a few of those times:

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”  Mark 1:35

“Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away.  And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.”  Mark 6:45-46

“And He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”  Luke 5:16

“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”  Luke 6:12

Even Jesus separated Himself away from the noise and got alone with God.

Sometimes, in this crazy busy world, it seems impossible to make the time to pull ourselves away and meet with Him.  What we need to remember is that it is actually the opposite. It is impossible to live a full life in this crazy busy world without pulling ourselves away and meeting with Him!

It is said that the average life span of an American person is 79.38 years…that’s 28,974 days or 695,376 hours!

I can’t imagine looking at God and telling Him that I couldn’t find enough time to spend with Him…the One who gave me ALL of those hours.

We can read every book written about God, go to every church service available to us, serve the needs of others every single day of our lives, but our fullness and satisfaction will not be complete. We will only be fully satisfied and complete when we remain in the secret place, alone with God and away From The Noise!

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.”  -John 15:4
